You slip off your shoes and place your feet gently on the ground. The cool, black volcanic sand welcomes you like an old friend, soft and silent beneath your skin. In that moment, a wave of calm washes over you — like the earth is whispering, “You belong here.” You pause, feeling the quiet strength of the land seep into your bones, grounding you in a way words cannot capture.

With each step, your bare feet sink into the textured stones. The coolness contrasts with the warm sunlight, awakening your senses — every touch, every shift of weight, connecting you deeper to this sacred ground.

The landscape around you is wild and alive — black, rugged, filled with stories of fire and resilience. As you walk slowly, your feet discover hidden textures — smooth patches, jagged edges. Each step feels like a quiet conversation with the land, a dance of trust and surrender.

The wind brushes past, carrying the scent of earth and ash. Beneath your feet, the land seems to breathe — steady, ancient, alive. In this silence, a peaceful strength rises within you, as if the volcano’s quiet power awakens your resilience.

Walking barefoot on this sacred terrain, you realize you are part of something timeless. Every step lifts your spirit, grounding you in the raw beauty of nature’s creation. Here, you are connected — to the land, to yourself, to something greater than words.

WELCOME TO GRAN CANARIA… YOUR NEXT CAMINO BEGINS HERE!

The benefits of Joining our Retreat

Wouldn’t it be amazing to feel deeply connected to a community that truly gets you?
Oh, absolutely! Before and throughout the retreat, you’ll build meaningful connections with fellow pilgrims who share your passion and purpose. You’ll walk your Camino with a tribe where you feel supported, understood, and truly seen.

Doesn’t it sound beautiful to reconnect with the version of yourself you found on your Camino — and not lose that authentic self in the rush of daily life?
It sounds amazing, right? While we’re together, through sunrise journaling rituals, guided sessions, and nature coaching, you’ll reconnect with your Camino self — so they become a guiding presence in your life, not just a distant memory.

What would your days feel like if you let simplicity and peace lead the way?
By living intentionally—walking lightly, eating simply, resting peacefully—you’ll rediscover the beauty of enough, returning home feeling refreshed, fulfilled, and more present—craving less and savoring more.

Wouldn’t it feel wonderful to carry your Camino into daily life — instead of feeling like it was just a beautiful memory?
Of course! Through guided integration exercises, group reflection, and a “Camino map for daily life”, you’ll transform insights into meaningful action—making your Camino experience a way of being that endures beyond the retreat.

Just looking at our photo warms the heart, causes me to smile and remember those days where it brought to the surface those deep troublesome thoughts and by talking, laughing and with good food, we were able to focus on what was good in life, prepare our upcoming travels and sing along with Rod Stewart. All because those beautiful people Ricky and Erica had the courage to create a Caminotellers retreat, and so I thank you for pointing me in a direction that has changed my life and way of thinking.

Why Walk a Camino in Gran Canaria?

Most people don’t know there’s a Camino here — away from the busy crowds of Galicia, across the ocean, on a volcanic island closer to Africa than mainland Spain. But this place is special.

Gran Canaria is wild and untamed. Its landscape is shaped by ancient lava flows and volcanic eruptions, with stories buried in its rocks. The Camino doesn’t go through fancy villages or tourist spots. Instead, it winds through lava-carved ravines, past sacred caves used for rituals older than memory, and up to mountain peaks where the sky feels close enough to touch, then drops you into deep silence, broken only by wind and footsteps.

This island reminds us that sometimes, destruction is part of creation — that letting go of old habits makes room for new growth. Walking here is about embracing transformation, much like a volcano’s raw power that destroys to create new land. The energy of the place helps you feel grounded while also sparking your inner fire and courage.

The rugged landscape reflects your own hidden feelings and untapped potential, inviting you to explore what’s inside you. The quiet and vastness help you feel small but deeply connected to everything around you.

On this journey, you’ll let go of false ideas about yourself and feel more alive and confident. You’ll be supported by something steady, even as you change from within. This walk offers a chance to reconnect with something older and wilder — to emerge clearer, more grounded, and more yourself.

Accommodation

Each night on this Camino is part of the pilgrimage — not just a place to rest, but a space to land, to reflect, to soften into the experience. We stay in quiet rural fincas, mountain guesthouses, and family-run retreats that seem to rise naturally out of the landscape — like they were always meant to be there, waiting for you.

You might fall asleep to the sound of wind moving through pine trees, or wake up with the sun rising over ancient volcanic ridges. Some homes are tucked beneath sacred peaks, others nestled beside palm-filled valleys or perched on mountain passes with wide, cinematic views. Each one holds something — a feeling, a silence, a warmth — that welcomes you in and lets your shoulders drop the moment you arrive.

Rooms are shared, creating a simple, cozy atmosphere that mirrors the Camino’s spirit of connection and community. You’ll share space with fellow pilgrims who, like you, are here to walk, reflect, and reconnect — offering both companionship and quiet when you need it.

The rooms are soulful and simple, with touches of Canarian charm: thick stone walls, wooden beams, handwoven blankets, the scent of mountain herbs drifting through the air. There’s space to sit outside under the stars, sip tea in your socks, or journal by candlelight. These are the kinds of places that make you feel grounded without saying a word.

Every detail is taken care of — your meals, your comfort, your space to rest and reset. And while the setting changes as you walk across the island, one thing stays the same: each place wraps around you like a well-worn cloak, holding you through your journey in just the way you need.

Wow, I can’t wait!

Flavours of the Island

You walk in and it hits you — that slow, earthy aroma of something that’s been simmering for hours. Maybe it’s a bubbling ropa vieja stew, rich with chickpeas, sweet peppers, garlic, and herbs. Or gofio escaldado, warm and silky, a traditional Canarian dish made with toasted corn flour and broth, the kind locals swear by when the body needs comforting.

There’s queso de flor on the table — soft, slightly tangy goat cheese made from raw milk and wild thistle, drizzled with golden honey pulled from the same mountains you walked through earlier. And beside it? A bowl of papas arrugadas, those beloved Canarian potatoes, salty and wrinkled from sea water, ready to be dipped into mojo verde — fresh with cilantro, garlic, olive oil — or mojo rojo, smoky and spiced just enough to wake your whole palate.

The bread is warm. The wine is local. The dessert is simple — a slice of bienmesabe (it means “tastes good to me,” and it really, really does), made from almonds, sugar, and lemon zest. You didn’t know your body was missing this — until now.

And yes, whether you’re vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, or just a little sensitive to certain things, we’ve got you. The food is made with care — for your body, your spirit, and the stories you carry.

This isn’t hotel dining. This is island nourishment. Shared around a table with people who started out as strangers and now feel like old friends.

Your Camino Gran Canaria Retreat Itinerary

You’ll be welcomed at the airport and taken deep into the island’s interior — to a quiet mountain village tucked beneath the Tauro Massif, a place the locals have always known was sacred. The road winds higher, the air grows stiller, and by the time you step into the warm rural finca, the outside world feels miles away. Tonight, you’ll rest in silence — held by the land, the stars, and the slow rhythm of the island.

You’ll spend your first full day walking gentle circular trails around Barranquillo Andrés, following paths that pass ancient trees and even older stones. The land feels wise here. At the summit of Montaña de Tauro, you’ll stand before the Tagoror — a ceremonial gathering place of the island’s first people. It’s quiet, powerful, and humbling. This is where your walk truly begins — not with a stamp, but with a feeling.

From the lighthouse at Maspalomas — the official Camino starting point — you’ll head inland, leaving the coast behind and stepping into the unknown. The landscape shifts dramatically: dunes give way to canyons, palms sway beside stone walls. You walk through Barranco de los Vicentes, a deep ravine that opens into Arteara, a desert-like oasis nestled beside an ancient aboriginal necropolis. You’ll spend the night nearby — between sky and silence.

Today you’ll climb toward Tunte, following timeworn trails lined with dry stone terraces and weather-smoothed paths. The views open wider with every step. This is the spiritual heart of the island — a quiet mountain town where pilgrims still pass, though fewer than you’d think. You’ll stay in a rustic house that feels like it remembers everyone who’s ever arrived with tired legs and a searching heart.

This is the day that leaves its mark. From Tunte, you climb into the highlands — through pine forests, past cliffs, across ridgelines that make you pause without meaning to. The path is ancient, the views endless. You arrive in Cruz de Tejeda, one of the island’s most breathtaking lookouts, where you’ll rest for two nights in a cozy mountain inn. If the weather’s clear, you’ll see Tenerife rising from the ocean like a dream.

No rush today. A gentle circular hike leads you to Risco Chapín and the mysterious caves once used in pre-Hispanic fertility rituals — Cueva del Caballero and Cueva de los Candiles. There’s a quiet here that feels otherworldly. The rock walls seem to breathe. You’ll return to Cruz de Tejeda changed in a way that’s hard to explain — but easy to feel.

Your last walk takes you down from the heights toward the northern coast. The air grows cooler, the colors shift. You’ll pass through evergreen forests, lava fields, and gentle farmland before reaching Gáldar — once the ancient capital of the island’s aboriginal kingdom. You’ll arrive not just at the end of a trail, but into something that feels like homecoming. Tonight, you’ll sleep in a soft bed, full of stories and salt air.

After breakfast, we’ll take you to the airport — but no one really leaves the Camino. The way continues, even as your feet rest. You’ll carry something back with you — something the island whispered to you while you walked.

It’s surprising how many things I feel judged for at home are embraced here.

The Lasting Shift

This isn’t just a week in the sun. It’s not a vacation.
It’s a recalibration — of your rhythm, your mindset, your energy.

Maybe you’ve walked the Camino already… and now you’re feeling called to something deeper, something wilder — a new kind of path that meets who you are now.
Maybe you’re walking through a chapter of change and need space to ask: What now? What’s next?
Or maybe you’re just tired — not the kind of tired a weekend off fixes — but the kind that needs silence, wildness, and honest reflection.

This retreat is here for all of that.

Reclaim your direction
You’ll walk long, quiet trails with no pressure to perform — just space to listen, feel, and reset. You’ll leave knowing what matters again, and what doesn’t.

Burn through what’s been holding you back
Not with effort, but with presence. With each mile, you’ll shed a little more of what you no longer need — doubt, comparison, the stories that aren’t yours anymore.

Rebuild from the ground up
Through nature walks, nourishing food, and nature’s quiet wisdom, your body and soul will find their pace again. No hacks. No rush. Just a return to what’s true.

Connect in ways that matter
This isn’t a crowd. It’s a circle. A small group of fellow pilgrims who are just as open, just as human, just as hungry for something real.

This is your time to walk differently — not for distance, not for approval, but for yourself.

Because the world doesn’t need you more productive. It needs you present.
And that presence starts here, on this volcanic, sacred path — with one steady foot in front of the other.

Their commitment to helping others was genuine and devout! […]. Their mission of helping others is contagious and as a result we enrolled in the Camino retreat hosted by Erica and Ricky prior to embarking on our journey. The journal and retreat were transformative and serious consideration should be given by any pilgrim whether considering the Camino or not, to participating in both as finding a pathway to the soul. There are no two finer people exemplifying the spirit of the Camino and dedicated to helping others than Caminotellers.

Group Calls Before We Go

We’ll hop on a few Zoom calls together before the retreat: a chance to get to know each other, go over what to pack, how to get there, and chat through any last-minute questions. It’s like meeting your Camino family before the walk even begins.

Our Private WhatsApp Group

We’ll create a little online space just for us. A place to stay connected, share updates, ask questions, and then — after the retreat — to keep the stories and laughter going. And yes, swap photos (so many photos).

A Post-Retreat Circle

A few weeks after we’re all back home, we’ll gather one more time — not to “wrap things up,” but to help you integrate everything you’ve experienced. Because the Camino doesn’t stop when the walking ends.

A Gift from Us

A keepsake to remind you of the path you walked, the people you met, and the part of yourself you reconnected with along the way.

Assistance in planning the journey

Assistance in choosing the right flights from your home country to the retreat location

My favorite part was the time we spent getting to know each other. Hearing the stories and reasons for walking the Camino helped me to better understand my own feelings and reasons for doing it. Laughing and even crying together helped me open my heart to fully experience this special journey.

Erica and Ricky are really great people. They are just as sincere and caring “in person” as they are in their videos. I attended their Camino Retreat last September; it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

Ricky's Journey

Before I ever set foot on the Camino, I was already a traveler at heart — always chasing the horizon. But everything changed when I injured my back and found myself stuck in bed, barely able to move. I went from constant motion to complete stillness, and that stillness cracked something open in me.

That struggle led me to the Camino de Santiago. It wasn’t just a physical healing — it was a soul-deep transformation. Before that walk, I’d spent years immersed in meditation and Vedic studies, asking the big questions about life, purpose, and the nature of the self. The Camino brought those teachings out of my head and into my body.

It also reignited something I thought I’d lost: my love for storytelling. Now, I use film and words to share these paths with others — not just the landscapes, but the inner journeys too. Because I know what it feels like to be trapped — in pain, fear, or confusion — and I know how powerful it is to walk your way out of it.

Erica's Journey

I used to be an event manager — juggling projects, meeting deadlines, keeping everything running on time. From the outside, it looked like success. But inside, I felt… off. Like something essential was missing. I craved a sense of purpose, and more than anything, I wanted to feel like I belonged — not just somewhere, but to myself.

So I started walking. First the Camino, then other sacred paths around the world. Over the years, the more I explored, the more I realized that what I was really searching for wasn’t out there — it was inside.

I know what it’s like to be at a turning point. To feel the pull for something more, but not know what the next step looks like. I’ve been there, and now I walk beside others as they navigate their own shifts — helping them tune in, trust their inner voice, and remember who they already are.

Because transformation doesn’t happen all at once. It begins with one brave step — and I’m here to take it with you.
